Department of Neurosurgery
The University of Mississippi Medical Center’s Department of Neurosurgery is committed to delivering exceptional patient care, advancing neuroscience research, and educating the next generation of neurosurgical leaders. Our highly skilled neurosurgeons provide specialized treatment and surgical care for the full range of brain, spine, and nerve conditions in adult and pediatric patients, including brain and spine tumors, cerebrovascular disease, epilepsy, trauma, and spine, functional, and peripheral nerve disorders. We are assisted by an experienced and dedicated staff of specialty nurses and nurse practitioners, who provide compassionate care, support, and information for patients, families, and referring physicians.
As part of the state’s only academic medical center, we are a health care leader and resource for the region, offering advanced, comprehensive care that patients are not able to receive anywhere else in Mississippi. We offer the only Level 1 trauma center, Level 4 epilepsy center, multidisciplinary neuroendocrine tumor service and transnasal endoscopic pituitary surgery, and pediatric neurosurgery services in the state. We also host the state’s only Neurosurgery Residency Program, which integrates patient-centered care, innovative research, and extensive training to prepare residents for outstanding careers in both academic and private practice leading to certification by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
